Hartford Church of England High School

Transport Information

At Hartford Church of England High School, we are committed to promoting safe, active and sustainable travel to school with the main emphasis being on reducing the number of children being driven to and from school.  By doing this we could help:

  • reduce the number of car journeys to our school
  • establish positive active journeys to school
  • improve both mental and physical health through physical activity
  • promote independence and improve safety awareness
  • reduce the environmental impact of the journey to school

Walking

The majority of our students walk to school via a good network of pavements which are well lit. However, there are a number of busy roads near the school, including main roads where traffic can be heavy at times. Please remind your children to use the pedestrian crossings when walking to and from school and to be mindful of their personal safety at all times.

Cycling

We encourage our students to cycle to school. In order to promote this, we have three large cycle shelters where they can be safely stored during the school day. Anyone who rides a bike to school must follow the Highway Code Rules for cyclists (59 to 82) which includes wearing a helmet whilst riding a bike to and from school.

Car

If you are dropping off or collecting your child by car, please be aware of the congestion outside the school. For safety reasons, please do not park in the school bus bays or on the zigzags or double yellow lines. We ask that you are considerate to our neighbours by ensuring that you do not block their driveways.

Bus

Students who live in Barnton may be eligible for free transport. For enquiries regarding School bus transport, please contact Transportation at Cheshire West and Chester on 0300 123 7039. School bus departures are supervised by school staff.

For public transport visit the Arriva buses website.

Train

There are two train stations in Hartford, Greenbank, and Hartford stations.  If students travel to Greenbank station, they are eligible for an "Educational Season Ticket" from Northern Rail. For more information visit the Northern Rail website. Students can collect a stamped application form from the school office.
